Prof. Tan Weihong Receives 2018 ACS Spectrochemical Analysis Award

Academician Tan Weihong, professor of College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and College of Biology, Hunan University (HUN) won the ACS Division of Analytical Chemistry Award in Spectrochemical Analysis recently. Tan is also the director of HNU’s State Key Laboratory of Chemo/Biosensing and Chemometrics.

The award ceremony will be held in this August in Boston, USA.  

Founded in 1876, the American Chemical Society is an independent nonprofit organization. It is the world’s largest scientific society and one of the world’s leading sources of authoritative scientific information.

The Award in Spectrochemical Analysis was established in 1987 and grantshas only one awardee each year. It aims to reward the scientists who have a significant international impact and make outstanding contributions to the fields of spectrochemical analysis and optical spectrometry.

The ACS Division of Analytical Chemistry wrote that, “He has made multiple contributions in spectrochemical analysis: ultrasensitive bioanalysis with DNA probes, ultrasmall optical biosensors, development of biophotonic nanomaterials and aptamer-based chemistry and biotechnologies.”

Prof. Tan has long been devoted to the research and education teaching of spectrochemical analysis and optical spectrometry. He has made remarkable achievements in design, R&D, application, and molecular imaging of optical sensing probe.
